The Fat Club

BACKGROUND

The Fat! Club blog was launched in December 2008 by affiliated company Fat! Records. The site was created to showcase the music of DJs and producers playing at the world-renowned monthly Chew the Fat! club night in London and various international show cases and residencies. Hosting exclusive DJ mixes, original tracks, remixes and bootlegs The Fat! Club blog represents a platform for some of the hottest new artists to be heard by a growing worldwide audience in addition to the 1000 or so people at the club. Contrary to many people’s beliefs about music blogs, The Fat! Club actively supports artists, helping to drive record sales via linking to shops and download sites. Not only previewing new music, The Fat! Club regularly features interviews, competitions and has recently opened an online shop selling art, merchandise and whatever may take our fancy.

With an avid music-loving fan base already established by Fat! Records and Chew the Fat!’s ever-increasing audience (now hosting parties all over world, enjoying their 3rd year residency at We Love… Space in Ibiza and recently celebrating their 12th Birthday at The Arches, London) The Fat! Club’s audience has quickly grown into worldwide community, now with more than 25,000 unique visitors every month and in excess of 100,000 page views.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Eclectic music loving party people with an ear for a fresh sounds and eye for contemporary upfront cultural recommendations.

60% are male, 60% aged 16-24, 35% aged 25-34

Sleep is for the Weak

Sleep is for the Weak is written by Josie, a twenty-something, slightly neurotic, seriously sleep deprived stay-at-home mum from Staffordshire in the UK.

Her days are mostly filled with doing her very best not to be too bad a mother to her rather demanding and spirited young son while stealing all available free time to write, think, grow and try to stay sane. Trying to juggle a blossoming writing career with a toddler that manages to tick all the ‘better keep an eye on this one’ boxes on her Health Visitor’s check lists isn’t always easy. Her portrayal of motherhood is often raw and painfully honest, but she survives with the help of a great deal of chocolate, a good splash of humour and by refusing to take anything too seriously.

When not hiding under her duvet and being hopelessly self-deprecating, Josie takes a lot of photographs, writes poetry, and runs a popular weekly writing workshop for bloggers.

She’d love if it if you stopped by, or sent her some cake. Either one…

Jean Harlow was a Bombshell. Marilyn Monroe was undoubtedly one. Ava Gardner, Marlene Dietrich, Carole Lombard, Lauren Bacall….the list goes on. We adore tham all, and want to celebrate them through this site – but not in the conventional way….

We’re all about Beauty Bombshells. Think red lipstick, arched eyebrows, perfect black liner and luminous skin. Platinum blonde hair, wavy red curls, impeccable bobs. Each and every Bombshell had one thing in common – they were groomed to within an inch of their life.

But we’re not talking fake tan, sparkly lipglosses and shimmer powder all over, hell no. We’re talking beauty at its finest. The products that achieve that bombshell look, how to do it and how to carry it off.

The site features reviews of recent shows, previews of upcoming programmes and TV related news - and all this in addition to a fine and a well-regarded podcast featuring, in the words of the Guardian, ‘rude men shouting about the brilliance of Traffic Cops’.

We think that was a recommendation.

Set up three years ago with a healthy backlog of content, we post frequently and prolifically, always engaging with the mood of the TV nation and talking straight about whatever’s been on the box. Watch With Mothers watches TV - from reality flotsam to quality documentaries - so you don’t have to.
